Review  Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Movie 2013

I entered the film with higher expectations plus they were partially fulfilled. Compared to the first movie, this film goes for much more attempts at getting a laugh and surprisingly misses a little more times too. Viewers can only take so many food puns before it is generic, though the kids will obviously never get sick and tired of it, believe me. This movie is in no way the quirkiest animated film I’ve witnessed considering the variety of new and involving characters who each have their own hilarious persona. Occasionally throughout this fun high calorie adventure, it seems as though it turned out rushed in it’s story that is really evident in the ending which does feel hurried. All the humor really relies upon are food puns as well as the mannerisms with the characters that happen to be enjoyable however, your left wanting that certain big laugh. The animation however is first class by using these beautiful environments and also the fluidity from the characters movements can be a real treat. Overall, the is often a well intentioned flick for youngsters that’s just a little but too light about the comedic side.

Even in an animated movie I expect to make some kind of connection with the main characters. Flint’s dad, voiced by James Caan, is easily the best character in this while the leads are mostly bland and, unfortunately, forgettable. And why has Terry Crews replaced Mr. T???

The 3D also left a fair bit to be desired, although the issues with lateral image blurring that I saw may be due to a fault of the theatre rather than the movie itself.

If for some reason you’re a die-hard fan of the original, then sure, check this out. It’s an improvement over the original but that’s really not saying much.

This movie should’ve gone straight to DVD. Or better yet, never being made. I’ll stick with the first one, and forget this pointless sequel existed.

Review Runner Runner Movie

Runner Runner is often a story of a student(Richie played by Justin Timberlake) at University of Princeton who is a pro in gambling and makes money by signing players into online poker tournaments as a way to pay his college fees. However, he or she is pushed to risk all this because college dean warns him of termination if he is constantly advocate gambling on campus and sets a deadline to pay his tuition fees.

Richie loses all his money in his try and hit a jackpot via an internet poker tournament and discovers that he was swindled from the gaming corporation headed by Ivan (Ben Affleck) and that he sets his foot in Panama And Nicaragua , to lock horns with all the gambling giant. Ivan recognizes the brilliance of Richie and gives him the life that he’s been having dreams about. However, the tables turn when Richie finds the ulterior motive of Ivan’s action which is the place that the story falters. One expects a battle of wits to ensue but what will happen is some lack lustre convincing acts by Ivan to generate Richie be in the trade.

The movie moves at a slow pace and just what hurts the film most is basically that you expect Richie’s character to be more shrewd and to become a few steps before Ivan however that doesn’t happen until the end.With Agent Shavers (Anthony Mackie)and Croning (Anthony Cooper) bringing in some laughs occasionally the video rather ends well. The newest locales of Costa Rica were captured brilliantly.

Review Gravity Movie 2013

This movie is completely stunning in the start. I can’t remember ever being pulled in to a film so completely and thoroughly, and I don’t think I’ve seen a far more beautiful film. Its a reasonably intense ninety minutes, with Bullock’s character constantly battling one catastrophe after another, and it is totally amazing to see. The plot is actually comparatively simple (view it, I won’t talk about that), nonetheless its how they accomplish it that makes it absolutely worth seeing. Due to some incredible CGI, great direction, and solid acting, the movie is a necessity see. I’m normally not hot for 3D movies (I dislike wearing the stupid glasses), however this movie uses it wonderfully and great effect. I’d personally highly recommend seeing it in an IMAX theatre when you get the risk – if there was ever a motion picture generated for 3d IMAX, here it is.

“Gravity” is a spellbinding and beautiful movie as two people encounter dire circumstances one after the other. Survival is the name of the game, but the inner strength is what shines for these characters. Wonderfully written and visually gripping to bring the utmost intensity to a story filled with anxiety and stress.

So if you guys are wondering why people rated this earlier…. It’s already showing in other countries… like the Philippines

And I have to say, the movie is both thrilling and mind blowing. I love how Stallone was introduced in the story. I love how they planned the escape perfectly.

Very good story, a good villain, good action scenes and a perfect chemistry between the two action stars!

Jim Caviezel is also very good as the main villain!

For action fans and people who wants to forget their lives for a couple of hours and have a film fun, I highly recommend it!

Review 12 Years a Slave Movie

2 Years a Slave is that movie that I hear is currently the front runner for best picture of the year at the Academy Awards. I thought my expectations were to high going in to this movie, and that I might leave the theater disappointed, and I did end up a little disappointed when the movie ended. The cast is huge, but Chiwetel Ejiofor is the main lead, while Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Fassbender deserve special mentions. Many people will probably enjoy this film better than I did, but as a current student of American history, I did not find the violence to be very shocking or powerful to me.

In case you don’t already know, the movie is about a free black man in New York who is kidnapped and sold into slavery for 12 years. This is by no means a bad movie, as a matter of fact, the good strongly outweighs the bad. First of all, the directing is excellent. There were many shots that stuck with me, but there are two in particular I would like to mention. There is one scene where Ejiofor’s character is chained in a dungeon screaming for help, and the camera slowly moves up to reveal that he is close to the White House. I thought this was an excellent commentary on how political leaders made this legal in America. The second shot was where it shows Ejiofor’s character struggling to survive a hanging for several minuets, which I thought was extremely well done. Also, the acting was beyond astounding, especially from Cumberbatch and Fassbender. Both of them should win Oscars, but sadly only one will.
Overall, this film had a great narrative, strong performances from the entire cast, and I would definitely recommend this film. I do have two complaints, though. I too felt that the ending was a bit abrupt. In all fairness, I’m not sure what kind of closure I was expecting but I felt like much was left unsaid. My biggest gripe of all has to be the torture scene I mentioned above in which Patsey (Nyong’o) yells something to Solomon and it just had John Ridley’s over the top style written all over it. According to Solomon Northup’s biography this exchange did not happen so why did Ridley feel the need to add such a dramatic statement? What was the need to create sexual(?) tension between Patsey and Solomon’s character? The same could be said about a speech Solomon gives in the film. That too was fiction and not realistic but I guess they did that to emphasize on their message on hope.

Review The Fifth Estate Movie

Both the kindest and most damning thing you can say about The Fifth Estate is that it primarily hobbles itself by trying to cram in more context-needy material than any single drama should have to bear.

The most compelling thing here by far is the film’s vision of Assange, by all accounts a man of enormous self-regard and slippery ethics. Benedict Cumberbatch has the character in hand from the start.
